In her thesis “Optimization of the Airbox of a Formula SAE car” Giulia Sforza uses CFD simulations and mesh morphing tools to optimize the airbox performances.

The aim of the project was to develop a new model of airbox for the 2010 car starting from the analysis of the previous one (2009) and understanding through Ansys Fluent which profiles had to be improved in order to achieve the best fluid dynamic conditions of the airflow.

This analysis allowed to build a new CAD airbox model that has been analyzed with Ansys Fluent software and optimized with RBF Morph.
